Mentirosa Championship Tournament – OFFICIAL RULES

Official Start Time 7:30 PM

Players must be registered at the Arena by no later than 7:00 PM on Nov 17, 2005.

  1. Scoring and Game play

    1. The tournament will consist of three (2) general rounds, and one (1) final round. Players will be divided in groups of four (4) per table. At each table, for each round, players will play up to a total three strikes, or “palos.”

    2. The first player to exit a table by collecting three “palos” will receive minus 6 points (-6), be designated the “Cabana Boy” for that round, and can be asked to serve drinks for the remaining players.

    3. The next player to exit the table, or third place, will receive zero (0) points.

    4. The following player to exit the table, or second place, will receive four (4) points.

    5. The winner at each table receives eight (8) points.

    6. Once a winner has been decided at all the tables, points will be recorded, and the next round begins.

    7. We will randomize the players per round, at each table, to minimize the chance that any two tables will be alike in any round.

    8. “ Palo Alto” can be used (optionally) before the player exist the table, regardless of the number of players left.

    9. The play can go either clockwise or counter-clockwise but must be decided at the start of each hand.

    10. Trash talking is encouraged, but it is illegal to ask a player to “soften” a call.

  2. Championship Round

    1. The final round will be played by the top scoring players during the tournament. The number of tables used during the tournament will decide how many players will advance to the final round.

    2. Players at the final round will play up to three (3) strikes or “palos.”

    3. In the case of a points tie f or the last slot in the final table, the final table will be increased to accommodate the additional players.
